We aim to educate and organize people out of tv-addicted lethargy and into action to save our country. 973.694.5035 3 Nov 04: JFK wins, Bush steals his 2nd term...as we prayed desperately democracy would have a rendezvous with Common Sense & reclaim America's hope-justice-decency. USA: the most despised country in the world today. Bush is the worst president in history, a despicable man & criminal. “Evildoer.” Exploitation of outright & coded homophobia, racism & xenophobia, the thuggery & the consistent use of innuendo, distortions & lies & rigging of elections destroy our USA. The voracious Bushes now blast along declaring W’s got a mandate. Ridiculous. People don’t want to believe but the fact is statements from over-the-air networks or Fox/CNN/MSNBC that Bush won the election DON'T make them true. 30% of votes were done on computers using literally untraceable programs. Who can say whether this 30% of votes defeated JFK illegally cause of companies like computer electronic-voting machinery Diebold, whose CEO said he'll do everything to "deliver Ohio for Pres. Bush?"

Description
Imagine a world where everyone who chooses to is able to go to college; a world where workers on our campuses and in our communities have a voice about their working conditions; a world where the fruits and vegetables we eat are picked by workers who earn a living wage; a world where we can proudly wear our university apparel, knowing the workers that made our clothing were paid fairly and afforded the basic rights of breaks, safe working conditions and an 8 hour work day; a world where jobs support workers and the environment. Cesar Chavez and Martin Luther King, Jr. both imagined a world like this. Now is the time to turn our dreams for a better world into a reality! From March 28-April 4, 2008, students and workers join together to celebrate the lives of Cesar Chavez and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and to continue their work to build a better future. Join us as we demand: · Living wages for all campus employees · University codes of conduct that support workers’ rights both on campus and overseas · Development of “green jobs” that support workers in our communities and promote a healthy environment · Access to higher education for all · Fair wages & working conditions for the people who grow our food and harvest our crops · And MUCH MORE!

With over $550 billion dollars in assets and annual contributions exceeding $36 billion per year, private charitable foundations are a source of concentrated social and political influence in American society. Despite the fact that their giving only represents less than 13% of the $295 billion given last year to charitable causes, many believe that foundations exert a disproportionately large degree of influence on the political and social development of our country. Organized as part of a new Wagner undergraduate seminar course of the same title, this speakers series brings philanthropic leaders to Wagner to share their experiences and thoughts on key issues related to funding advocacy and social change.

9/11 Revisited: Scientific and Ethical Questions
Date Sunday March30 Location: St. Marks Church 2nd Ave. & 10th St., Manhattan
You wouldn't think a conservative physics professor from Utah's Brigham Young University would come forward with scientific evidence challenging the government's account of 9/11. Professor Steven Jones , an important leader in the 9/11 alternative research community, released a detailed white paper that concluded the trade towers could have only collapsed due to controlled demolition. Indeed, there are scores of eyewitness testimonies released by the NY Times which support his research. Since Dr. Jones came forward, hundreds of academics have studied the alternative research and now agree the towers were brought down due to controlled demolition. This film of his lecture given on Feb.1, 2006 at Utah Valley State College in Orem, Utah, has evoked rave reviews. Jones gave a simple, straightforward yet powerful talk on the facts surrounding 9/11, specifically the collapse of the three buildings. He spoke on the ethical issues involved, describing a government whose representatives are dishonest and "falsify the data." The material is highly charged (no pun intended) but the Professor's demeanor is hardly incendiary. He is cool and measured, as befits a man who is authentically devoted to God and therefore speaks sensitively on this most important issue. You won't want to miss this!

The Political Economy & Aesthetic of 7 Dividing Lines Yanis Varoufakis with Images by Danae Stratou Fences have a longstanding relation both with liberal individualism and imperialism. After 1945, walls took over from fences, with an unprecedented determination to divide. They spread like a bushfire from to Palestine, from the tablelands of Kashmir to the villages of Cyprus, from the Korean peninsula to the streets of Belfast. When the Cold War ended, we were told to expect their collapse. Instead, they grew taller, more impenetrable, longer. They globalised. From the West Bank to Kosovo, from the killing fields of old Ethiopia to the US-Mexico borders, their spectre is upon us. Why? What are the forces sustaining this Globalising Wall? How does it feel to live in its shadow?
Yanis Varoufakis teaches political economy at the University of Athens. His books include Rational Conflict, Foundations of Economics, and Game Theory: A Critical Text.
Danae Stratou has regularly participated in shows in Museums and Biannual exhibitions internationally. Her solo exhibitions include Water Section (2000), See Through (2005) and CUT – 7 Dividing Lines (2007), on which this talk is based, and which is currently exhibited in Jerusalem. George Katsiaficas, Ashanti Alston Omowali & Others TBA Continuing our year-long events series on the 40th anniversary of 1968, we will look at the impact of the Black Panther Party, which inspired thousands to join their movement to transform "the system." Liberation, Imagination, and the Black Panther Party will offer a fresh and realistic recounting of the tumultuous history of what arguably became the most significant revolutionary organization in the US during the late 20th century.
Ashanti Alston Omowali is an anarchist activist, speaker, and writer, and former member of the Black Panther Party, the Black Liberation Army, and spent more than a decade in prison after government forces captured him and the official court system convicted him of armed robbery. Alston is the former northeast coordinator for Critical Resistance, a current co-chair of the National Jericho Movement (to free U.S. political prisoners), a member of pro-Zapatista people-of-color U.S.-based Estación Libre, and is on the board of the Institute for Anarchist Studies.
George Katsiaficas has been active in social movements since 1969 when he participated in the anti-Vietnam movement. A target of the FBI's COINTELPRO program (Counterintelligence), he was honored to be classified "Priority 1 ADEX" meaning in the event of a national emergency, people like him were to be immediately arrested. After living in Berlin for 1 1/2 years and learning first-hand about the autonomous movement there, he wrote about that movement (The Subversion of Politics: European Autonomous Social Movements and the Decolonization of Everyday Life). He is the author of several other books including the classic: The Imagination of the New Left: A Global Analysis of 1968. $6/$10/$15 Free for Brecht Forum Subscribers

RJ Maccani Since their January 1st, 1994 armed uprising in Southeastern Mexico, the Zapatistas have consistently reached out to people from around the world to join them in building a global network “for humanity and against neoliberalism.” Beginning with a history of this global network, sometimes referred to as the “Intergalactic,” we will move on to actively explore what lessons we can draw from the Zapatistas experiences for our own organizing here in the US and conclude with a look towards building the next Intergalactic.
